Please fill out the attached forms and bring it with you to your first appointment. If you have your child's newborn hospital discharge papers OR your child's vaccine records, please bring a copy with you.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends well-child visits in the first year of a baby’s life; we would like to see your child every month for the first six months, then every three months until 2, then 2 1/2; one yearly routine checkup for ages 3 – 18.

Disclaimer: The above schedule is a guideline and can vary from patient to patient. Some patients may require additional visits.

During these examinations, Rub Pediatrics MD PA will evaluate your child and then perform a complete physical exam including the child’s height, weight, physical development, blood pressure (age appropiate), vision, hearing, diet and sleeping habits. Immunizations will also be updated. Your child’s immunization schedule should be kept in a safe record-keeping file. Rub Pediatrics is here to serve you. We accept most insurances. Please make sure to know about your payment responsibilities and what your insurance covers. Also, it's important to check if you are required to list DR RUB as your child's PCP (primary care physician). Please contact your insurance for more information.

Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy the outdoors. In South Florida we have all year round too time to enjoy the outdoors.

Sun Protection:
- Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen when the UV index is 3 or higher. Look for sunscreen labeled “broad spectrum” and “water resistant,” with an SPF of at least 30. Reapply throughout the day to maintain protection.
- Hydration: Drink plenty of cool liquids, especially water, even before you feel thirsty.
- Protective Clothing: Wear a hat and cover up with appropriate clothing to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.

Water Safety:
- Swimming Lessons: Enroll children in swim lessons to build confidence and swimming readiness.
- Supervision: Always supervise kids around water. Drowning can happen quickly and silently. Designate a “water watcher” to keep a close eye on everyone in and around the water.
- Life Jackets: For young children or inexperienced swimmers, use U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets. However, do not rely solely on life jackets; adult supervision is crucial.
- Pool Safety Devices:
  - Pool Fences: Install a four-sided fence around the pool area, at least four feet tall, with self-closing and self-latching gates. Mesh pool fences are effective detterents to unauthorized access to the water.
  - Pool Covers: Consider mesh pool covers that allow rainwater to pass through while keeping leaves and debris out. These covers can also hold the weight of an adult, minimizing the risk of a child breaking through 3.
  - Swim Aids: Use inflatable swim rings or float belts with safety support for young children in the water.
  - Education: Teach kids about water safety rules, such as not going near the water without adult supervision and not relying on inflatable toys alone.
  Remember, a combination of vigilance, education, and safety devices ensures a fun and safe summer for everyone!
